Eye Pics - A guide on how to use it! Also amendment requests

Post by MTP » Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:05 am

Eye Pics came about through a post by yzf-r1, the original discussion can be viewed here.

So ... how is it used?

To go to the gallery, simply click on the button on the top right of the screen:

If you are logged in to theOptom, then you will be logged in to the gallery automatically.

Once in the gallery, navigation through the gallery is fairly straightforward. When looking at a picture, if you click on this button Image then you will get additional information at the bottom of the screen about the photograph. This also give the option to add this photograph to a list of your favourites. You can then view your favourite photographs at any time by choosing Album List -> My Favourites.

To upload a photograph simply choose Upload file.

When uploading photographs, remember to select which album they should go in to. Also try to add as much detail as possible - what it is/any diagnosis, what equipment was used for taking the photograph, etc, etc.

If it is a particularly big file, then you can always put it through an image re-sizer like this one here: http://resize2mail.com/ .

How to embed images within threads

Post by MTP » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:11 pm

So ... you have uploaded your masterpiece and you want to talk about it.

... here's how:

The discussion about any pictures will still take place within the main forum space, Eye Pics is really just there to store and collect the photographs.

So let's take Nedmundo's photograph that he has uploaded, here it is:

Image

and here it is in the image from the gallery:

Image

Now, it is probably best to embed the thumbnail picture you see above the filmstrip, rather than the full size image you see when you click on it. Right click on the thumbnail picture and choose "Copy Image Location":

You can then simply put a link to the image's page within the gallery using the URL in the image's details, underneath the image, something like this:

Image
http://theoptom.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=10

You're lines of code to enter into your post for the above photo and link look like this:

{img}http://www.theoptom.com/gallery/albums/ ... k.jpg{/img}
http://theoptom.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=10

But, replace the {} backs for [], the IMG tag loads the image.

If you want to be really fancy, though, you can embed a link around the image which will take you to the original full size image. To do that, click on the image in the gallery, this will open a new window with the full size image in it. Now, do the same right click on the full size image and copy image location. Highlight your previously embedded Img tags fully and click the URL button. In the opening URL tag, add the URL to the tag.

Here's what the full coding will look like:

{url=http://theoptom.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=10}{img}http://www.theoptom.com/gallery/albums/ ... k.jpg{/img}{/url}

But replace the {} brackets for [] ones. The URL tag creates the link to the page I want to link to, the IMG tag loads the image. You can get the links by right clicking on the image and choosing Copy Image URL (Firefox/Chrome) or Properties and then copy the Address (URL) (Internet Explorer).

Amendment Requests

As it is not possible to alter/edit a photo or the description details about it once posted... if you have something that you want changed or think that should be changed, post it here.

I don't think so but I'll look into it. In the meantime you can upload a pic and insert a link to an uploaded video in the description:
http://tinypic.com/
https://vid.me/
https://sendvid.com/

Or post the vid link in a thread.
You work 20 years paying off a mortgage to a bank who created the money they lent you out of thin air. Debt is the modern day slavery. There is a better way: Watch this Video
