site costs

Post by jonesal2 »

just out of interest what are the costs of running a site such as this?

Have you considered an advert in either the Optician or Optometry Today to try to increase awareness?

In terms of expenditure only, its very little. However, the initial reading up on the software, site creation and publicising were the biggest "cost" to me but only in terms of my time. I value my time very highly, but now only the 'maintenance' aspect takes up time, but this is not much.

There was an article in the OT about theOptom.com, in the 'student times' section, November 5th issue. I have considered advertising it, but I think "word of mouth" by the members would be the most effective. And if they dont like talking, I made a leaflet/poster for people to post on optometry uni boards. Optician were going to do an article on it too, but they never went through with it, possibly because OT got there first, I dont know.
