Posting wholesale / trade prices

Post by shiraz »

From a recent thread.......

Bearing in mind the public can quite easily register on this forum if they want to (and have done so on the odd occasion).....

Does anyone (else) think it may not be a bad idea to ban the posting of trade / wholesale prices?

If approved, it could be one of the terms & conditions: "Please do not post trade / wholesale price information on the site. Admin reserve the right to edit or delete such posts without notice".

I know that one of the fundamentals of the forum is minimal censorship, but I just think we have a hard enough job as it is with numpties like JMW generating spin regarding prices.

If this forum continues to grow as it is doing, who knows what journalists may be trawling through posts in preparation for another "scoop".

Any thoughts?

This thread should have been a poll.

Too right - the first poll to register 100% agreement. I vote with the crowd.

Despite earlier comment now agree with you.

(However journalists can get trade prices by phoning suppliers and pretending to be a prospective account holder.)

The cost of specs has been investigated repeatedly by the OFT and found to be fair due to the appalling cross subsidy situation. The media have reported costs in the past and even BBC progs such as watchdog have had a go whilst doing cyclic optician bashing.

Perhaps we have to thank internet specs and the bogoff merchants for the fact that matters have died a death on the cost aspect. If you want cheap specs they are now easily available.

and i agree too.

i think there was a suggestion to make registration harder, but if someone really wanted to join then i don't see that you could ask anything that extensive googling couldn't find.
